Power-to-Gas can make a significant contribution to the EU Green Deal - EU research project STORE&GO publishes Power-to-Gas Roadmap
Karlsruhe, February 18, 2020 - Power-to-gas is a promising technology for storing large amounts of green energy and making it usable again. The aim of the project was to investigate the potential of power-to-gas applications in the European energy network, taking into account economic and regulatory aspects. To this end, the 27 project partners operated power-to-gas plants at three different locations that produced synthetic methane from renewable electricity and fed it directly into the existing gas networks.
The detailed project results and conclusions were presented by the participating scientists at a final conference in Karlsruhe on 17th and 18th February, 2020 and summarised in a European Power-to-Gas Roadmap.

STORE&GO demosite in Switzerland wins Watt d'Or
Bern, January 09, 2020 - The winners of the 2020 Watt d'Or awards have been chosen! This year's trophies were presented to the winners on the occasion of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy's New Year's event that was held on 9 January 2020 in Bern.
Innovative Swiss companies and organizations have long been taking on the challenges of the energy future. It is for them that in 2006, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy has created the Watt d'Or, the quality seal for energy excellence. Behind these projects are people, companies and organizations. They develop the energy technologies for the future, bring innovative products onto the market and set new standards for practical solutions that unite energy and environment awareness with comfort requirements, aesthetics and economic interests. Their achievements deserve public recognition and visibility.
Proudly as the STORE&GO project we can congratulate our partners in Switzerland because the swiss STORE&GO demosite in Solothurn was rewarded this year with the Watt d'Or in the category "Renewable Energy".

Second STORE&GO political dinner in Brussels
Brussels, December 03, 2019 - Around 70 participants gathered in the European Parliament in Brussels on 3 December 2019 to discuss the future of the European energy system.
The central point of the discussions was above all the STORE&GO Power-to-Gas Roadmap, which was published for the first time and is based on the results of the largest European Power-to-Gas research project in Europe (STORE&GO) over the past four years.

STORE&GO plant produces storable renewable energy
Solothurn, January 28, 2019 - On Monday, January 28, 2019, the new research facility for the power-to-gas process in Zuchwil, Solothurn. The plant is part of the pan-European research project "STORE&GO", in which Regio Energie Solothurn, Electrochaea and four other partners. In one innovative process, the STORE&GO plant produces renewable gas from renewable energy sources. energy and offers a unique way to store energy and green energy. to recycle carbon dioxide (CO2). The core of this process is the biological Methanization developed and scaled by Electrochaea GmbH.

EU project STORE&GO discusses the potential of the Power-to-Gas-technology
EU project STORE&GO discusses the potential of the Power-to-Gas-technology storing renewable power with key stakeholders from politics and industry
Brussels, October 18, 2018 – The European large-scale energy storage project STORE&GO intensifies the political dialogue in Brussels to show that the Power-to-Gas-technology is the key enabler for a CO2-neutral European energy system. As part of a political dinner yesterday evening the STORE&GO consortium discussed with key stakeholders from the European Commission, industry and research the potential of Power-to-Gas-applications in the European energy system as an important step in the energy transition.

Politicians from Germany, Italy and Switzerland back power-to-gas pilot plants
The STORE&GO pilot plants now have political support, as important figures in Germany, Italy and Switzerland have agreed to back the project as part of their respective political and public agendas. The aim of the European STORE&GO flagship project is to produce and store renewable gases using power-to-gas technology in combination with a methanation process. The pilot plants are being used to research how these processes can be integrated into the daily operations of European energy networks.

Ground-breaking ceremony for the STORE&GO project in Switzerland
Solothurn, May 4, 2017 - On Thursday, May 4, 2017, construction work on a research plant for the power-to-gas process was started in Zuchwil, Solothurn, with a ground-breaking ceremony. The plant, which will be built and operated by Regio Energie Solothurn and five other partners, is part of the pan-European STORE&GO research project. It is scheduled to go into operation in spring 2018.

Windgas for the energy transition: Uniper lays cornerstone for methanation plant
Falkenhagen, July 06, 2017 - The successfully tested power-to-gas plant in Falkenhagen is entering its next phase with the expansion of a methanation plant. The current plant already has the capability to feed small amounts of pure hydrogen (so-called "WindGas") directly into the natural gas network. The new methanation plant will additionally be able to convert hydrogen into methane using CO2. This methane is synthetic natural gas, which can be transported from reservoirs and pipelines in unlimited amounts and stored in the existing natural gas infrastructure. In this way, it enables the storage of large amounts of energy that can be used in various sectors e.g. in the heating market, in industry, in mobility and in power generation, anywhere and at any time. It can also be used as backup whenever solar and wind power is not available in the necessary amounts. The plant is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2018.

STORE&GO Project kick-off in Karlsruhe
Innovative 28 million € project STORE&GO started to show large-scale energy storage by Power-to-Gas is already possible today
Karlsruhe, March 18, 2016 – Our future energy systems will be based on intermittent renewable energy sources. These systems will need large scale energy storage in order to ensure the security of supply. Chemical energy carriers provide the highest energy density and especially gas provides the highest existing storage capacity as well, so it seems obvious to use surplus of renewable energies for the creation of synthetic natural gas (SNG) by Power-to-Gas technologies. While the technical feasibility has been shown in several research projects, the new Horizon 2020 project STORE&GO aims to bring the technology to a level to be integrated in the daily operation of European energy grids.
